Taming the Wild Beast: Two Alternatives to Straightening Wavy Hair Without a Blowdryer

Stephy B
Sometimes, wavy hair seems like a godsend. You can easily make it curly and easily make it straight, right? It's harder than it sounds. Read these two alternatives to straightening wavy hair using a blowdryer.

1). Begin by squeezing excess moisture out of your hair and carefully blotting hair with a towel to reduce air drying time. When your hair is damp, part it the way you want it and then pull it into a snug ponytail at the nape of your neck. On the sides, by your ears, place bobby pins in the hair to flatten it as much as possible. When it dries naturally, the top half of your hair will be super smooth and straight, cutting your flat iron time in half! This not only reduces the amount of flat ironing required, it completely eliminates a blowdryer. Note: It is very important to make sure you hair has dried completely before you use an iron.

2). If your goal is super flat, stick straight hair, try wearing a beanie over your damp hair after towel drying. Again, you can use bobby pins to pull hair taunt for a flat finish. The beanie will flatten any cowlicks or waves to about your chin (or wherever the beanie stops covering your hair). You can take the beanie off a couple times to brush it flat again in case it starts to dry funny. Once it has dried, again, the top half of your hair will be completely flat and ready to be flat ironed, bypassing the blowdryer altogether.

These tips will not only eliminate a blowdryer but cut your flat iron time up to fifty percent. Though the correct method of blow drying can yield the same results, it is always a good idea to limit hot styling tools to only a couple days a week for maximum hair health.
