Tammi Smith was arrested in connection with the missing Gabriel Johnson case in her Scottsdale Arizona home at 11:10am MST on Tuesday February 2, 2010 on charges of Conspiracy to Commit Custodial interference and Forgery, reported KSAT news. Tempe police Sgt. Steve Carbajal said Smith was being taken to the police department and later will be booked into a Maricopa County's 4th Avenue Jail. Elizabeth Johnson, mother of eight-month-old baby, Gabriel Johnson, is held in Estrella Jail. A LIVE press conference will occur at 3:30pm MST.

News media persons have tried to contact the husband of Tammi Smith, Jack Smith. However, he does not answer his cell phone and voicemail box is full. The Smiths were persons of interest in the case of missing Baby Gabriel. They had once hoped to adopt him.

Elizabeth Johnson has been in jail since her arrest on December 31, 2009 in Miami Florida. On December 27 2009, she told the baby's father, Logan McQueary that she had killed the baby. After her arrest, she told Law Enforcement that she had given him away.

Before the chance to adopt baby Gabriel came along, Jack and Tammi Smith were about to adopt a newborn boy. But the mother asked for more money than is legally allowed by the State of Arizona so the Smiths regretfully withdrew.

Other Data on Tammi Smith: According to her website healingwatersaz.com, Tammi Smith is an Advanced Certified Colon Hydro-therapist and owns Healing Waters Clinic, which has five Arizona locations. She began the company in Tennessee in 2004. She was later certified by The International Association of Colon Hydrotherapists, in San Antonio.

Elizabeth Johnson first met Tammi Smith at an airport in June of 2009. She had Gabriel with her. The baby was then one-month old. Suffering from postpartum depression, Johnson was depressed and crying. Smith approached her. The women talked. Adoption was brought up. The women exchanged contact information.

Six months later, on December 8, Johnson had an argument with her then boyfriend and the father of her child, Logan McQueary. She called Tammi Smith and asked if she would like to adopt Gabriel. With her newborn adoption about to fall through, Smith said she was interested. The next day, Johnson gave Smith and her husband legal guardianship of Gabriel and actually handed him over.
