1. Wear costumes. Putting on a frilly dress, plastic jewelry, fancy shoes or crazy hat can make the tea party feel like a special event. Adults need to dress up too!
2. Get stylish. Curl her hair, paint her nails, spray perfume or apply make-up. She'll feel like the princess you know she is.
3. Pamper the guests. Getting her dolls or stuffed animals ready for the party can be a fun activity. She will enjoy helping to make them pretty the same way you helped her!
4. Decorate the party room. Blow up balloons, hang streamers or tie ribbons on the chairs. Your little girl will love to help and it will set the scene for a memorable party.
5. Gather supplies. Use your own kitchen utensils or purchase a play tea set for your child. A good set comes with a teapot, cups, plates and silverware and can be purchased for under $20.00. Cloth placemats are also great for spills!
6. Prepare the menu. A good tea party serves real food and drinks. Ice water with lemon is great for the teapot and rice krispie squares work well as a snack. They're simple and not too messy!
7. Start the party. Seat the guests, set the table, pour the drinks and serve the snacks. Use your imagination. Talking with her dolls and dancing with her teddy bear are just part of the fun!
8. Give out party favors. It can be as simple as a flower, sticker or chocolate kiss. She will enjoy playing host and thanking her guests for coming.
9. Time for clean up. Pop the balloons, roll up the tablecloth, stack the dishes or wash the dolls. It's fun, messy and makes her feel helpful.
10. Take pictures. Don't forget to use your camera. Stop periodically or enlist a volunteer for help. It's important to capture these special moments and she'll want her own copies too!
Quality time with your children is very important and a tea party can be a fun experience. If you master it, invite her best friend too! It's a great way to bond with your child or amusement for a rainy day. Happy playing!

Post a CommentOkay, I am sold. You are the truly great at the mommy thing! My 5 yr old has been begging me for a tea party. Now I have some ideas to go with before she is no longer interested.
I LOVED this article! I have a two year old daughter and these tips will be used!
Great picture! and a nice article. Still not good at the tea thing, but my daughter still likes to have dad sit in the little chair next to the rest of the guest (mostly stuffed animals and sometimes the cat!).
