What do you do when you screw up at work? Do you ignore it or play the blame game? Mistakes will happen. Nobody's perfect. Why can't we admit we were wrong? Customer satisfaction is very important. Defuse situations quickly. For good ways to deal with your workplace mistakes see my list for great tips below.

1. Admit it- When you make a mistake just admit that you're wrong. It's easier to do this early. Respect is given to those who are honest. Take ownership for your mistakes!

2. Communicate- When you have made a mistake keep your customer informed. They don't like to be left in the dark. Offer updates on your progress and keep them involved. Practice open communication!

3. Get help- If you don't know how to correct your mistake, ask your coworkers or boss for help. Incorrectly fixing mistakes will only escalate the problem. Others may have made this mistake before and offer a simple solution. Don't offer your client the wrong information. Learn from others knowledge!

4. Don't ignore it- The worst way to deal with a workplace mistake is to pretend it never happened. Things have a way of coming to light. Being upfront is always good practice. Don't try to hide or ignore your problem. It only makes it worse. Tell your client what happened and correct your mistake. Let your customer know they come first!

5. Prevent it- After you have corrected your workplace mistake you need to review why it happened. How could you prevent this mistake in the future? Ask for training if you think it would help!

6. Apologize- When you make a mistake it frustrates your client. Give an apology that is sincere. It's good customer service and helps your client feel better. Learn the art of saying you're sorry!

7. Fix it- When you make a mistake you need to fix it. Do this as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you can't solve the problem offer your client an alternative. Make sure that your offer is comparable!

8. Do it yourself- Don't make the client work to correct the problem. It wasn't their mistake. If you need information try to get this yourself. The solution is up to you!

9. Compensation- Compensation should be offered when you make a mistake. Especially one that is large. Most restaurants will offer their client free food when the service has been substandard. Discounts are common as well as free upgrades. It keeps your client's happy!
