Tanning Can Be a Taxing Experience If the Legislature Has a Say in It

Tan and Tax Law

Spring is on the horizon and although it is a few months away, the first hint of winter being on the run and the feel of a warm day or even a wintry one sends visions the beach to our heads. That in turn demands a body that will please the eye, and most think first of tanning the skin so the swim suits look great, or that summer outfit that will show off the tan. We all want to look healthy and prosperous. Tanning seems to fill in that notion for some odd reason. We become the world traveler, tanned, toned and swimming in the lap of luxury with that wonderful tan.

Since it isn't summer and the sun is hiding under clouds of winter sky most days, the tanning salons get geared up with the latest bath and body oils, scents and specialty items. Walk into one and smell summer and beach or pool. So you sign up for a half hour of tanning. You whip out the credit card and then you notice that there is a heafty federal tax waiting on the bottom line of the receipt, or you need an extra dollar to cover the cost of what used to be ten dollar fee. Where did that come from? The federal taxing legislature that is where. They have in place a plan to find as many ways to tax the citizens of this country as possible, and use life style choices to do so.

This is wrong and we need to stand up to them and say enough is enough. The sun damage or tanning bed damage to our skin causing cancer and other problems won't be solved by raising taxes. The amount of tax generated by taxing these kind of businesses is a drop in the bucket compared to the amount of government waste of the tax payers dollars in their control, while they look for ways to add additional tax burden to the citizens businesses and customers pocket books. This is feel good politics and we're doing this for you speak. Nonsense and control of our lives kind of politics is what this is leading too.

This is not health care or health care reform, it is a masquerade of facts to create a scene to alarm everyone and convince the public this is what is making medical costs out of reach of many. When in fact most people use these services logically and safely. Some do not and you can spot them the minute you see them with over tanned skin and wrinkles. That alone should be enough to convince the random tanning bed user to be aware of limits and use of any thing that could cause a health problem.

From fat, smoking, drinking, exercise, and now tanning at an additional cost for tax dollar,. those lawmakers need to be unelected if they sign onto this kind of lawmaking. Take away their cars a few days, in the name of saving lives. Do anything you can to let others see what is happening and that we need to put a stop to it. Whether on food, health products, gas. The list is too long and growing, end it now.
