Just like clockwork my 2 year old will throw the biggest tantrum ever when she leaves. He has pounded his fists against the glass screaming as she drives away. He has thrown himself on the floor in a screaming rage as she walks out the door. When he senses that she is getting ready to leave he will wrap himself around her and hang on for dear life.
We knew that we had to figure something out so this does not keep going on every single time that she visits. My Husband and I explained to her that maybe if she would not spoil him as much he would start to relax, and it would not be so hard when she left.
That of coarse did not work out so our next step was to distract him when she left. The first couple of times he knew what's going on because she would close the front door too hard. After that it started to get a lot easier.
My son is 5 years old today and does not throw the tantrums like that anymore. He still loves it when 'Nana' comes over to visit.
