Travel agent or tour operator?
Many first time safari goers often make the mistake of taking their tour with a travel agents rather than directly with a Tanzanian based tour operator. If you book with an agent, the chances are that your enquiry will be passed on anyway, and you will not be going on safari with the same company you assumed you would be. This also means that the sales representative who worked with you to find a suiting itinerary is most likely miles away and as your first point of contact, it will be much harder for them to understand any problems you are having if they are not in the country.
Private or shared safari?
There are generally two types of safaris on offer to you:
Private safaris - With private safaris you get full control over when you go to Tanzania, which parks you visit, which activities you take part in, where you stay and of course you have the comfort and privacy of your very own safari vehicle.
Shared safaris - This means that you share you safari vehicle with a random group of strangers for the duration of your trip, this may be a good way to meet new people and is an option recommended for solo travellers especially as it will be cheaper than hiring a private vehicle to yourself. You will not have any ability to choose where you visit, what dates you go on or the accommodation you stay at.
If you are still trying to find that perfect Tanzania safari tour operator, then look no further than East African experts Ziara Safaris - who have over 10 years experience in the Tanzanian safari industry and a back catalogue of happy past guests, which keep returning.
