Tapping into Your Creative Mind

Dougie Lloyd
Creativity is present in every single person. It is not something that is only reserved for a select amount of people. The people who seems to be more creative than others have merely learned to tap into their creative minds, letting their creativity flow freely. They are not inhibited by things that restrict them from using their creativity. Anyone can learn to help bring out their creativity, and this article will help you learn how to do just that.

You should start by doing some research. You have probably already started this, which has led you here. You should be finding more information. Gather as much as you can. This means you should be reading everything that you can find. Try to find information that gives you specific creativity exercises. One such exercise would be blind sketching. It involves you looking at a picture, closing your eyes, and then sketching the picture in one movement, without lifting your pencil. Such information can help you start to unlock your creative side.

Keeping a daily journal or diary of your thoughts is helpful too. You should be writing things down, like things that you felt when you heard an old song. Try to keep from being bland and saying things like "I got up and went to work. I came home and ate dinner." That stuff is so dry. There's no meaning - no life - to what you are saying. Instead, you could write "I got up this morning to my alarm clock playing this song that reminded me of the summers that we spent at the lake. If I close my eyes, I can feel the cool water on my skin." Drawing on specific thoughts and feelings will help your creative thinking immensely.

Always remember that things are not always as they seem. Don't dismiss an idea because it seems like it's crazy. Some of the most creative people in this world have been downright lunatics. If it seems really off the wall to you, it simply means that it is creative. Don't be so quick to toss out all your ideas. Also, in embracing your crazy ideas, be careful not to let yourself get too carried away, and lose your sense of reality. The idea is to be creative, not go insane!

Try to get rid of your restraining ideas. Take the less conventional path. Not everything has to be set in black and white when there are so many beautiful colors to choose from. Without creative thinking, our lives become dull and monotoned. We need to work to bring in more lively actions.
