Tyler Hansbrough had a career high 21 rebounds and 22 points in the game.
Danny Green had nineteen points.
Deon Thompson had 11 points.
North Carolina overcame 21 turnovers to come out with the win.
Jason Rich led Florida State with 22 points.
Today's victory was a big one for North Carolina. For UNC to win on the road against a conference opponent, with their starting point guard Ty Lawson hurt, they had to have people step up. With guard Bobby Frasor already out for the season, Lawson's injury meant that backup point guard Quentin Thomas would see lots of minutes. Thomas played well scoring seven points(a season high) and more importantly having zero turnovers. Thomas managed the game for the heels and helped to push the tempo more in the second half.
North Carolina also got key contributions for other players. Deon Thompson continues to be a valuable post player for the heels. He had eleven points and five rebounds. Danny Green added nineteen points including some key three pointers throughout the game. You can't forget about 'Psycho T' better known as Tyler Hansbrough. His career high in rebounds is prove of his tremendous work ethic during the game. Despite a very physical game in which he saw numerous double teams Hansbrough still managed to score 21 points.
For North Carolina, all eyes will now turn to their matchup with Duke on Wednesday. Both teams are in the top 5 in both polls. Both teams have lost only one game this entire season. Both teams are looking at the possibility of being a number one seed in a tournament in which they could play the majority of their games in the state of North Carolina. In what has become one of the biggest rivals in sports, the Duke, North Carolina matchup is sure to bring a great game. Will Ty Lawson play. We will have to wait and see. His presence is clearly important as today's game is evidence. An injured Lawson could give the Blue Devils a slight advantage.
