Quick and Incredibly Easy Tarte Flambe

This is a very quick, very easy recipe for Tarte Flambé (Alsace Pizza). It's not meant to be gourmet, but rather for those nights when you really just want a quick Alsace fix at home.

Ingredients:

2 Cups of Gruyere Cheese Shredded

8 oz Crème Fraiche

Ham or Bacon Cooked and Chopped

½ of a Large Onion Chopped

2 tbsp Butter

2 tbsp Olive Oil

Pinch of Salt

1 Pre-made Pizza Crust, or your favorite pizza dough made according to directions

Directions:

Set oven to Broil on low.

If you're using a pizza dough, prepare as necessary. For pre-made crusts place on a pizza pan. Spread Crème fraiche over the crust liberally. How much you use it really a matter of personal taste, but be sure to at least cover the surface of the crust.

In a pan melt butter and add oil. And onions and salt and good over low to medium heat until onions are slightly browned. You can add a small amount of white wine or cooking wine for flavor if you like.

Sprinkle half of Gruyere over crust followed by half of onions and half of the ham over bacon. Layer again with remaining cheese, onion, and meat.

Place in oven for about 10 minutes or until cheese is thoroughly melted and slightly browned around the edges of the crust.

Remove from oven and allow to cool for 5 to 10 minutes. Cut into 8 pieces and serve.
