This product comes as a duo; one side is a cream based shadow, and the other end is a powder based loose shadow. You first apply the cream shadow and then roll on the powder shadow on top for a more dramatic effect. I have never used cream shadows before (always used powder version) so I was a bit wary of using one for the first time. Tarte's version comes with a simple applicator (similar to that of a liquid eyeliner brush, just slightly thicker which made it incredibly easy to apply the formula. The cream formula goes on smooth and balanced. I would suggest doing one eye at a time since the powder adheres best right after the cream version is applied and gives of a bolder effect. It also helps lock in the color better. My eyelids tend to oil up faster and more often, so I am always making sure that my eye makeup is in tact. This eyeshadow does not budge. Even throughout a work day and through the night hours, I do not have to reapply this eye shadow - perfect!
This eye shadow comes in seven beautiful, luminescent shades: Bronze (shimmering bronze), Gunmetal (shimmering gray with a hint of plum), patina (shimmering light green with a hint of silver), Quartz (shimmering pale pink), Rosegold (shimmering pink with a dash of gold), Sandstone (shimmering ivory/nude), and Slate (shimmering silver grey). I bought Gunmetal and it is a glamorous color giving you the perfect smoky, smoldering eye look.
The great plus about these is that they contain natural ingredients such as mineral pigments, Vitamin E to help sooth and soften your eye skin area will providing bold color at the same time. These are free of harmful ingredients such as parabens, sulfates, synthetic fragrances and dyes, petro-chemicals, and phthalates.
These usually retail for $17 each which is more on the high end compared to your average mass market brand beauty products. However, because of its quality it is well worth the price. These can be purchased at specialty beauty stores such as Sephora and are also available on their main product website Tartecosmetics.com. I highly recommend these eye shadows, and I can't wait to go back and pick up more of these in different shaded to play up my eyes even more!
