Tasty Duet Sour Cream & Onion Potato Chips - Food Review

Lisa Riggs
While stocking up on snacks for an evening with friends, I spotted the Tasty Duet line of potato chips at my local grocery store. A long time potato chip lover, I was definitely intrigued by this new line of snacks. I chose the Sour Cream & Onion variety from their many offerings since this is the favorite flavor of my both my girls. Here is what I discovered about this Safeway brand of snack chips.

The design of the Tasty Duet packaging definitely jumps out at you from the shelf. Instead of the usual brightly colored bags with colorful markings, this brand packaging is very subtle and unassuming. The color of the bag is beige and is enhanced with black and green lettering. Instead of fading into the background, this unique color scheme makes it stand out from the rest.

A thirteen chip serving contains one hundred and fifty calories. There is ten grams of Fat with one gram of Saturated Fat. However, there is no Trans Fat and no Cholesterol in these chips. There is a total of fifteen grams of Total Carbohydrate and one gram of Dietary Fiber. There is also one gram of Sugar and two grams of Protein in this serving size. On the plus side, this snack contains ten percent of Vitamin C and two percent of Iron. There is no Vitamin A and no Calcium in this snack food. Although the calorie count and Fat content is surely a downside, it is nice to know that there is a bit of Vitamin C to be gained from eating these potato chips. The percent values are based on a two thousand calorie diet.

I paid only $1.99 for this ten point five ounce bag on Special. I assume that this very low price was offered in order to entice new customers, and that eventually the price will increase to be more comparable to other brands of snack chips.

The bag has a zipper seal on the front which I found to be very convenient. Instead of needing to use a clip or ensure that the bag is rolled and closed up tightly, the seal simply needs to be zippered after snacking. I loved this feature considering the fact that I live with two young ladies who are not overly concerned with keeping foods fresh.

I am happy to say that I was absolutely delighted with these chips. The thin crisps were very crunchy and the sour cream and onion flavoring was quite tasty. From the very first chip on the top of the heap to the last ones on the bottom, the snacks were nicely coated with delicious seasoning. The snacks were very fresh and stayed that way despite having the bag opened and closed several times. These new munchies were very yummy and satisfying. I would definitely give Tasty Duet Sour Cream & Onion Potato Chips a full five star snack rating.
