Chocolate ice cream tastes great just on its own, but if you are looking for ways to spruce it up, there are a number of different ingredients you can add to a serving of chocolate ice cream.
Natural Peanut Butter
What better way to improve chocolate ice cream than by adding peanut butter to the mix? Many varieties of ice cream already contain peanut butter cups or chunks of peanut butter, but you can make your own to meet your personal preference. Choose a good quality natural peanut butter, that is not loaded full of artificial ingredients or trans fats, and give it a good stir before adding a heaped tablespoon to each serving of chocolate ice cream. Smooth or crunchy peanut butter will work, depending on your preference. It is quick and simple but sublimely tasty.
Homemade Huckleberry Jam
Huckleberries grow wild in Montana and in a number of other states. They are a tasty fruit that are hard to put down once you get started. If you have cooked up a batch of homemade huckleberry jam and are getting tired of spreading it on your morning toast, reserve some for your chocolate ice cream instead. Huckleberry jam has a rich, syrupy consistency which can be drizzled over chocolate ice cream for a tasty, yet elegant dessert topping.
Mashed Bananas
Bananas are packed full of potassium and complement a number of desserts, such as the tasty British dessert banoffee, banana bread or banana split. They also work well with chocolate, which is why mashed bananas will enhance the taste of chocolate ice cream in a heartbeat. Mash the bananas until they have reached just the right consistency that you like and then spoon the mixture over the chocolate ice cream. As the ice cream melts, mix the mashed banana mixture into the ice cream so that you can enjoy a bite of banana with each mouthful of chocolate ice cream.
Improve the taste of your chocolate ice cream by adding ingredients and toppings you already have on hand in the pantry, such as natural peanut butter, homemade huckleberry jam or mashed bananas.
