Tata Motors Launches Jaguar and Land Rover in India

Tata Motors introduced the iconic British cars Jaguar and Land Rover on June 28. The brands will be marketed exclusively by Tata Motors through dedicated showrooms. The first such showroom opened in Worli, Mumbai during the new car launch day itslef.

Both these brand have introduced three models each. Jaguar has introduced XF sedan, sport XFR sedan and XKR convertible. Land Rover has introduced three SUVs Range Rover, Ranger Rover Sport and Discovery 3. All models will be imported and will be available with hefty price tags including import duties. The prices for all the six models will range from Rs 63 lakh to Rs 93 lakh.

Jaguar and Land Rover company officials have not announced any target of sales for the Indian car market as of now considering the economic slowdown. Jaguar will be pitched against high end Mercedes-Benz and BMW models.

Addressing the gathering at the launch function, the Chairman of Tata Motors, Mr. Ratan Tata said that "it is a special moment for the Indian car company as the brands belong to us. We are happy to introduce Jaguar and land Rover models here. It will allow Indian car enthusiasts to gain direct access to their models along with spares and servicing."

"This is a special moment to us because this company belongs to us," he said. Tata Motors brought these marquees for U.S. $2.3 billion in June last year.
