Tata Nano is finally set to be delivered to the first batch of customers in last week of July. It is expected that Mr. Ratan Tata will hand over the keys to the first Nano customer. The passenger car major has already begun dispatching the vehicles to dealers across the country. Tata Motors has already sent the allotment letters to the first batch of 1,00,000 customers in the country.

It has been learnt that at least 70 percent of the total booking (2.03 lakh booking) have come from non-metro cities. It is likely that the process of delivering the one lakh cars is likely to be completed by early 2010. All the customers scheduled to receive Nano car have been informed about the phases in which the delivery will be made.

Those who have not received the allotment of the car have been given the option to retain the bookings. Under this scheme, 55,021 customers have agreed to keep the bookings and accept delivery in the subsequent batches.

Tata Motors is currently manufacturing Nano at its tentative facility in Pantnagar and has a capacity to manufacture 50,000 cars a year. A new plant is being constructed at Sanad in Gujarat which is scheduled to start operations in December this year.
