Tata Nano Launched

Finally the wait has come to an end with the launch of Tata's dream car Nano. The ultra cheap car was launched in India at the Gymkhana Club in Mumbai.

Nano is powered by a 624cc rear mounted petrol engine with an output of 33 bhp. Mated with a 4-speed manual transmission, the engine supported with Bosch's new Value Motronic system which is expected to provide maximum functionality at low cost. The Nano is ahead in fuel economy compared to its rivals and offers remarkable fuel efficiency of 23.6 km/litre, certified by the Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI) under mandated test conditions.

Coming to its design, Nano is 3.1 m in length, 1.5 m width, 1.6m height. Though the exterior is shorter than Maruti 800, the interior is 21 percent spacious than M-800. As already mentioned, the engine is fitted at the rear and under the hood for a change Nano offers a stepney.

Available in three variants - Nano Standard (BSII and BSIII), Nano CX (BSII and BSIII), and Nano LX (BSIII) price ranging between Rs 1.3 Lakh to Rs 1.8 Lakh. Safety features intrusion-resistant doors, crumple zones, seat belts, strong seats and anchorages, and the rear tailgate glass bonded to the body to offer improved safety to all car owners.
