Tatoos, Designs and Ink - Step 1 - DECIDE
Tattoos are permanent. No matter what people may say abut tattoo removal, you don't want to get a tat unless you are absolutely sure. I know, I know, there is a procedure for tattoo removal involving lasers, but the fact of the matter is that they are costly, painful and they do leave a scar. Don't make the decision to get some ink thinking about its removal. You want to be sure that this is the choice you want to make and it is a choice that you can live with for a lifetime.
I've seen too many people have "buyer's remorse" after getting their first tat. That should not be! Getting a tattoo, especially the first one, should be an exciting and joyous occasion, not something which leads to sadness and depression. To avoid this mistake, be sure you are ready.
Tatoos, Designs and Ink - Step 2 - CHOOSE
After you have made the firm, unmovable decision to get a tattoo, you need to choose what you want your personal statement to be. At the heart of every tattoo, there is a statement to be made. What's yours? What are you trying to convey to the casual onlooker about yourself through your tattoo?
Your tattoo can be thought of as a look into your soul. It can reveal who you are. It can reveal who you want to be. It can even reveal who you want others to think you are. You get to choose. Take out a piece of paper and write down 10 words that describe what you want to convey through your tattoo. This will be the starting point in getting your perfect tat. As you begin to look at tattoo designs and pictures, keep this list handy. You can use it to remind yourself of your purpose in getting a tattoo in the first place. Take your time and choose carefully
Tatoos, Designs and Ink - Step 3 - MOVE
After you've decided to get a tattoo and made the choice of what design you want, your next step is to make it happen. There are many tattoo parlors to choose from. Some communities actually provide dozens of choices. Depending upon where you live will in part determine your choices.
My best advice in choosing a particular parlor and artist is to make the choice having received a referral. Ask your friends where they got their ink. Were they satisfied with the service and price? Did the parlor provide adequate care instruction and were they available for any follow up? When a friend refers you to a particular parlor and artist you can rest assured that your experience will be a good.
So, that's it! Make the decision, choose your statement and then get it done. Be sure, be careful and be done...have fun!
