Tattered and Torn

My clothes are tattered and torn..
My cowboy boots are badly worn!
My money always gets away from me.
My family is ashamed of me.
Most of them think that I'm dead and gone.
Some of them only wish I were.
It is possible that a very few--
Could be proud of me too.
Mostly they think that I'm not worth--
The gun powder it would take to blow me away.
I said all along that I would be a star some day.
Everybody gave up on me, and I almost did too.
Still, I know that someday I am going to make it big and be well known.
A famous author--a well known writer that lots of people want to read.
That is how I have chosen to leave my mark on history.
