Tatynisa Wilson American Idol 10 Top 24 Performance - Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)"

Jimmy Boyd
Tatynisa Wilson is a singer who has advanced to the Top 24 (the first voting round) for the 10th season of American Idol. According to Rickey.org, she sang Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The World)" for her Top 24 semifinal performance.

Initial Thoughts

Tatynisa has been featured very sparingly throughout the Hollywood and Las Vegas rounds. And when she was shown, it was not all positive. She destroyed "I Hope You Dance" and had to start over. Additionally, her Beatles performance in Hollywood seemed average.

For the most part, Tatynisa seems to be cast as cannon fodder. To make matters worse, the show apparently made her sing first for the girls' Top 24 TV show. This is a dreaded spot that has a huge elimination rate, and Wilson must be in the top 5 vote getters to automatically go to the next round. That is next to impossible for all but a frontrunner who has to sing first.

Now, just to make it a little worse, Ta-tynisa picks an average song choice in Rihanna's "Only Girl (In the World)." This is not the type of song to impress American Idol fans. It is too fast and lacks emotion. I had some hope that the new supposed mentor (Jimmy Iovine) would put a stop to the ridiculous song choices. Alas, that is clearly not happening at this stage of the American Idol 10 competition.

Prediction:

Tatynisa comes in as an underdog and will not be able to get the votes to make the Top 5. However, there is at least a glimmer of hope that she could get a wildcard spot. This is also unlikely, however. Ashthon and Naima seem to be ahead of her for a wildcard spot (and possibly Rachel, Kendra, Karen, Julie and Thia). In other words, Tatynisa is just about the least likely candidate to advance among the girls for the Top 24 in American Idol 10.

Results:

The girls' performances will air on Wednesday, March 2, 2011. Check back after Ta-tynisa Wilson sings Rihanna's "Only Girl (In The World)."

Well, this is sort of what was expected. The song is not even written to have any emotion. She is pretty good as far as stage presence, but there's probably no one who could turn this into a great vocal performance. The actual vocals were shaky in parts but decent.

Steven and Jennifer are way too positive with their comments. Once again, Randy is the only honest one.

LOL. Jacob sings circles around Tatynisa. Are you serious? The girl never even deserved her spot. Nobody voted for her cause she sucks. At least Naima can dance. LOL. The only "conspiracy" is to get rid of bad singers/performers like Tatynisa.

I wonder why everyone is so numb to what I see happening in front of everyones eyes! There is some kind of game going on here to disrespect and disqualify good BLACK singers! To prove white and hispanic singers can sing soulful! Wrong! That was the most out of tune mess from each of those final 13 singing from MOTOWN! That was a MOTOWN MESS! I never heard such awful notes in my life! I am a brutally honest person, it was bad! I would have loved to hear Tatynisa Wilson sing from Motown being the only one to really bring a soulful sound and voice almost this far in the show! That is the truth! Honest to goodness I sould not LIE! You think because Tatynisa Wilson sounds different from the top 11 she is the one doing it WRONG? Quite the contrary, she is the one doing it RIGHT! And using MOTOWN, REALLY! The game plan is not excepting, voting and judging off true BLACK singers, using the weakest links! Case in point the two blacks in the top 11. Both over sing so many notes! And to Ms. Lope
