Tax Discrimination

How many taxes are enough? There is a cigarette, alcohol, road, property, gasoline, sells, and income tax. There are more taxes of coarse, but these are the familiar ones. If someone were to complete a study on how much the U.S. population pays in taxes, I am sure that the results would be shocking.

I do not mind paying taxes as long as they are fair. I see it as supporting our troops during war or peace. However, I believe that everyone, even the people on welfare or government housing, should pay taxes. No one should be allowed a free ride. If poor people, who are on government social programs, can not pay taxes, then perhaps the government should obtain services from them. I always hear about the rich cheating on their taxes, but I never hear anything about the poor cheating on their taxes - and they do too. For some of them do not pay taxes.

The United States of America Constitution declares, "All men are created equal". But, we are not taxed as equals. Therefore, our tax code violates the U.S. Constitution by discriminating against the upper, middle, and lower class. Taking the path of least resistance is not good for the country, which is exactly what the Democrats and Republicans have been doing for years. Will they put politics a side and actually solve these problems, rather than making them worse?

Taxing the rich and giving to the poor is not an incentive for the poor to become rich. It is an incentive to remain poor. It is a known fact that if the government continues to raises taxes, businesses will leave the United States. So instead of punishing the inventors, investors, and entrepreneurs who create jobs in this country, why not reward or encourage them?

Passing a flat or fair tax could simply eliminate the discrimination between the rich and the poor. Of course, I understand that if a flat or fair tax were to pass, the public should have the power to deny congress the authority to raise taxes whenever they desire. Meaning, a public vote, consisting of legal voters, would be held to approve or disapprove a tax increase. This would take away some of government's power, which I believe is way overdue, not to mention bring the country together by eliminating tax discrimination.

I believe a person, not a government, should choose their own destiny. Unfair taxation can persuade people to act or vote a certain way. The government should have solved this problem long ago, instead of constantly pandering it to the American people. Isn't the government guilty of bribing the American tax payers, especially during an election? Whatever happened to ethics? Isn't pandering this tax issue rather than solving it unethical?
