The new year always brings fear and dread after the New Years Eve party is over, especially when businesses start sending out the W-2 forms for the year that had just ended. That means that from January until April, the words that strike fear in almost everyone's heart is income tax.

The first thing that you need to decide is whether you're going to have your taxes prepared professionally, use software or do them the old fashioned way and do them by hand. Personally, I opt for filing my taxes by hand, then there's no concerns of whether they are received completely. This means that I need to gather IRS tax forms. There are several options in my area for getting the federal tax forms, as well as the state tax forms.

The first option that is available is going to the IRS website (http://www.IRS.gov) for your federal tax forms. You can print all the income tax forms that you could possibly need and even ones that you didn't know existed, along with full instructions. You can then check for state tax forms on your states IRS website. Those aren't always easy, but there is the FTA State Forms site (http://www.taxadmin.org/fta/link/forms.html) that provides direct links to all of the states.

If you don't have a printer or don't want to wait to get your income tax forms and live in the Waverly, NY, Sayre, PA area, there are several places that you can pick up your income tax forms including H & R Block, Jackson Hewitt, or Waverly Free Library,

H & R Block - 2309 Elmira Street; Sayre, PA 18840; (570) 888-6541; Mon - Fri 8 - 10, Sat 9 - 9, Sun 9 - 5

Jackson Hewitt - 460 N. Keystone; Sayre, PA 18840; (607) 748-1400; Mon - Fri 8 - 10, Sat 9 - 9, Sun 9 - 5

Waverly Free Library - 18 Elizabeth St; Waverly, NY, 14892; (607) 565-9341; Tues - Thurs 11 - 9, Fri 11 - 5, Sat 11 - 4, Sun 2 - 5, Closed Mon

If you need income tax forms for the borough, they can be obtained from most of the above places or you can visit the borough office and get the form directly from them. Just remember that no matter how you choose to prepare your taxes, they need to be filed by April 15th.

Thanks for the tip! Colorado must be different. :)
I went into our local HR Block for them, that's why I listed it. I think that every branch is different.

Double check the HR Block for forms. I work in Colorado at HR and we don't have the forms. We only can put it in the computer and print a completed return. Here you have to get them at the library or irs.. Thanks.
