Taylor gave a not guilty plea on April 12. On June 2, Taylor appeared back in the courtroom to determine her fate. Beverly Hills Superior Court Judge Richard Stone decided that Dayne serve two years of probation and also complete a Mothers Against Drunk Driving (M.A.D.D.) program for her misdemeanor offense. Taylor's DUI was thrown out and she was ultimately charged with reckless operation of a motor vehicle. Taylor's lawyer Scott Spindel advised that her blood alcohol level was below the legal limit.
Known for her 80s hit "Tell It to My Heart" Taylor had been lying lowing for years. In Dayne's career, she has produced twelve Top 20 Singles, and sold over 75 million albums. She attempted at a comeback after being featured on VH1 series in 2005 called "Remaking: Taylor Dayne." Taylor is attempting to make a comeback in 2008. According to her website -- www.taylordayne.com -- Taylor has been on tour and has made a new music video for her song "Crash." In April, she performed on NBC'S Tonight Show. Surely you're thinking, yet another celebrity with a DUI. What would you do if you were in Taylor's shoes? First things first, hire a lawyer to review your case. Lawyers are excellent are looking things over, and finding ways for you to get out of it. They will review anything from the initial reason to your traffic stop, Breathalyzer tests, any support evidence that may potentially get your case dropped. Sometimes the price paid for a lawyer is a little hefty, but if it saves you from jail time and having a DUI put on your record, it is well worth it.
Also, once you have been convicted of a DUI, stay out of trouble. Sure you're a little worried about the outcome, but don't go out and drink and drive your sorrows away. That would make matters much worse if you added another conviction under your belt.
Another thing, sometimes the court will ask you to attend remedial classes or to do community service instead of jail time. Take the classes, and do everything they tell you to do. Sure, writing a report on what you learned seems childish, but if it keeps a DUI off of your record, do it. Yeah, community service is surely no fun, but its much better than the alternative.
Last but not least, in fighting a DUI look at all your options. Meet with a professional, such as an attorney or lawyer to review your case. They will be able to give you the best advice legally. Every trial and case is different, they will review your case, and give you their honest opinion. Stay out of trouble also, nothing is worse than adding another DUI on to your record while fighting a previous one. Lastly, take any considerable out the court gives you. Sure, it may be a pain in the neck, but anything is better than jail time.
