Fantourage is a website where fans gather to share news and info about celebrities and in turn top fans can win awesome prizes. There is a page at Fantourage for Taylor Hicks and recently his PR team claimed the page and offered the fan with the most points by July 18th, two tickets to the Highline Ballroom show in New York and also a chance to meet Taylor Hicks.
Debbie known as ILTH2 on Fantourage was the lucky winner of this amazing prize and I spoke with her about winning the tickets, the concert and meeting Taylor Hicks.
How long have you been posting at Fantourage?
Since March 26, 2010 when the founder of Taylor's page made me aware of the site.
What did you think when you found out you were the winner and were going to meet Taylor Hicks?
I was very excited to find out I won the prize for being the top Taylor Hicks fan.. I have been a fan for over four years and my husband has taken me to see him about 12 times. We have seen Taylor in concerts from NY to FL to AL, in Idol Live Season 5, The Jacksonville Tree Lighting, at America's Backyard in Fort Lauderdale, in NYC on Broadway in Grease and a few times in the National Grease Tour. I have met him on the autograph lines, etc., as he is very good to his fans. But I have never had a true meet and greet. This was a dream come true. In addition by winning the tickets I was able to give my purchased tickets to my 21 year old niece and her boyfriend. We have 3 new Taylor fans because of this. My brother said, "Wow, I will definitely go to another Taylor Hicks show!".
You have seen him 12, what keeps you going back?
Taylor never ceases to amaze us. His shows are full of surprises and he gives everything to his performances. He shows he is very happy and loves performing on stage. He is loose and personable. The present band consists of 7 very talented musicians including himself. This band truly knows how to jam and they are rocking. We love following Taylor and going to as many shows as we can. We are thrilled to see how Taylor has grown into a great performer and musical genius.
What happened when you first arrived at the Highline?
Fantourage was amazing making sure my reward was given to me, They e-mailed me, called me and assured me my reward would happen. We arrived at the Highline early and Taylor's PR team took over from there, they had my name on the guest list with a reserved table for me.
After the show I was called and personally escorted to meet Taylor by his PR team. I was truly made to feel very special. They let me know they are grateful to the fans and we were thanked for all the good work with posting on Taylor's Fantourage page. I also was able to meet all my Taylor friends from over the years. We had a blast, it is no better time than being with other fans that love the man and the music. A great time had by all.
Tell us about meeting Taylor Hicks?
I was introduced to Taylor as the winner at Fantourage. He was gracious, he shook my hand and my husband's, took a photo with us and signed everything that I brought for him to sign including stuff for my 24 year old daughter who could not be with us on this trip to see Taylor. He thanked us for everything and for coming to the show. He is the nicest person and so very kind to his fans.
Tell us about the Taylor Hicks Concert?
This concert was amazing, very high energy. The band was fantastic. Taylor was very talkative and gracious to his fans. He did a few numbers from the "Distance" and some original tunes from earlier years. He truly connected with the audience. The atmosphere was very energetic and the sound was fantastic. He thanked his fans for supporting him, allowing him to be able to continue what he loves to do. The harmonica with Seven Mile Breakdown was the best. Taylor's encore was a cover of "Bulletproof" by La Roux, he brought the house down. Taylor proved yet again he is a true entertainer. Highline Ballroom was beautiful, the service was great and the staff very attentive.
What do you have to say to someone who has never seen Taylor Hicks live but are considering attending a show?
Taylor's live performances are second to none. Taylor Hicks is a musical genius and a fantastic live show performer. We are always excited to see what Taylor will perform on stage. Taylor's place is on the stage in front of a live audience. His shows are not to be missed. I encourage everyone to catch a live show on his 2010 tour across the country. You will not be disappointed. I was personally happy upon meeting several fans that have never seen Taylor live before this show. The reviews were awesome, they all loved it.
If you would like to catch Taylor Hicks in concert be sure to check out his website for a concert near you.
