Taylor Swift on SNL: Taylor Swift Shines on Saturday Night Live

Country Singer and Actress Taylor Swift Hosted SNL on Saturday NIght

Taylor Swift on SNL was a great choice. Taylor Swift was on SNL as the host and performer for Saturday Night Live, and she did a great job on both accounts. The announcement that Taylor Swift would be hosting SNL was made a few weeks ago in order to drum up publicity and buzz for the show, and for the most part her episode of Saturday Night Live was quite good. It must be mentioned though, that the first skit of the night wasn't as funny as the cast tried to make it, and though it was topical to reflect some of the politics going on in the United States, it ended up dragging a bit at times.

When Taylor Swift came out after the show credits had run, she received a nice warm welcome from the crowd, and started right into telling a few jokes during her monologue. The highlight of Taylor Swift's monologue came when she broke out her guitar and started singing a song called "SNL Monologue (la la la)". Through the song she covered topics ranging from a past relationship, to who she might be dating now, and of course touched on the Kanye West topic. Her take on the Kanye West "interruption" from the MTV VMA's was hilarious, and it showed that Swift was really able to just have fun with what had happened.

Swift participated in just about all of the sketches for the week of SNL, and also performed two of her hit songs during the musical parts of the show. That made her only the second person that has ever been both the host and musical guest in the same episode of Saturday Night Live. She did it just about flawlessly, and both of her songs were well worth hearing if you have ever been a Taylor Swift fan. In her skits she also showed that she could be quite funny when given the opportunity, but rather than standing out as the guest star, Swift blended into the cast perfectly to provide a number of laughs. It wasn't the best SNL episode ever, but it did provide some nice entertainment late on a Saturday night.

Taylor Swift was definitely a welcome addition to the SNL cast for the night, and if you haven't already seen the SNL Digital Short of the night, make sure to go look it up. Amy Poehler also made a guest appearance on Weekend Update to give an edition of "Really" with Seth Myers, and of course that was funny as well. Hopefully SNL decides to invite Taylor Swift back for another run at Saturday Night Live, because she was a great guest for the show, and probably drew in some great ratings.

I am a huge fan of Taylor Swift but not big enough of a fan to watch SNL.

Loved her on this, although I must add that I'm not a big fan of her music. But the "Monologue Song" was killer...
