Taylor Swift's Record with Men Still Broken

Carol Whyte
Taylor Swift has broken all kinds of records in her short country pop music career and she's one of the most beloved stars of today. Yet, Swift can't seem to fix the one record that's still broken: the one with her men. Apparently, Jake Gyllenhaal, Swift's latest boyfriend, has "skipped out" of Swift's life due to overwhelming "media scrutiny".

According to People, Swift and Gyllenhaal dated for two months, beginning last October and ending at the beginning of December, 2010. The couple was first seen together in October and spent Thanksgiving weekend with one another.

However, by early December after a spotting of Swift and Gyllenhaal in Los Angeles, the couple spent the Christmas and New Year's holidays apart.

Us Weekly reported that a source told them that Jake could not handle the publicity and that he "wants to keep his private life private."

Gyllenhaal joins Swift's list of men who have "bitten the dust" and moved on. While more than likely Swift will pen a song and we'll all know the sordid details about her and Jake's breakup, it may also be one that Swift will delay for a while as her reputation with men seems to still be skipping.

Swift has been linked with John Mayer whom she apparently wrote a scathing 'Dear John' song about. Some of the lyrics to that song are as follows: "Dear John, I see it all now that you're gone, Don't you think I was too young, To be messed with, The girl in the dress, Cried the whole way home, I should've known.

It was wrong, Don't you think nineteen's too young, To be played, By your dark, twisted games, When I loved you so."

Additionally, she's had a relationship with Joe Jonas who notoriously broke up with Swift via the telephone. Click here for lyrics to Forever & Always.

And of course, there's Taylor Lautner of Twilight fame who was reportedly very much into Swift but the feelings weren't quite returned. Swift later wrote Back to December which is thought to be about her relationship with Lautner and her regrets for letting him go.

The lyrics include: "Your guard is up and I know why. Because the last time you saw me is still burned in the back of your mind ...you gave me roses and I left them there to die. So this is me swallowing my pride, standing in front of you saying I'm sorry for that night. And I go back to December all the time. You gave me all your love and all I gave you was goodbye."
