The TBS Conan O'Brien new show debuted Monday evening at 11 pm on the network. Conan's TBS new show is called simply that, Conan, and it marks his return to late night television following the debacle at NBC with The Tonight Show. As part of his buyout with NBC, Conan had not been allowed to return to TV until this time, but it had been well known for months that he was moving to TBS, and that his debut would come in November.

Of course, the TBS Conan O'Brien show's first episode had to touch on all of that NBC controversy. The show opened up with a four minute video segment, retelling the drama at first as if it was part of a gangster or mob movie. Conan is on the phone and says, "You want me to move The Tonight Show to 12:05? Forget it. I'm not doing it. Go to hell!"

He's then driving in his car and gets surrounded by mobsters with machine guns who shoot him several hundred times. Conan survives, but is in the hospital in a full body cast and is told he'll never work on network television again. Then we see all of the odd jobs that Conan had to take in the mean time, including working at a fast food restaurant, being a clown for a child's party, and trying to get hired by Mad Men's Don Draper, who informs him, it's 1965 and you're only two years old.

Finally, with Conan on the brink of jumping off a bridge, his guardian angel appears, it's Larry King. Larry King tells him two words, "basic cable" and we see Conan at the TBS offices accepting their offer of "much less" to host his new Conan O'Brien TBS show.

Plenty more happened on the first TBS Conan O'Brien new show. Seth Rogen was one of the guests, and we learn his now infamous Seth Rogen engaged story, where he proposed to his fiancé while she was topless, and wanted to put the ring on her nipple. Conan joked that it's a good thing that they were on TBS, as Rogen continued to be bleeped, and eventually went into a story about his medical marijuana prescription for his ailment, "I aint got no weed!"

All in all, it was a solid first effort for Conan's new show on TBS. He definitely is more open now to be himself and use his special brand of comedy, as opposed to trying to fit the demographics of The Tonight Show audience. The only hard part is that now Conan is going head to head with his good buddies Jon Stewart of The Daily Show, and Stephen Colbert of The Colbert Report, so fans will have to make some tough viewing calls.

There was plenty more action in the TBS Conan O'Brien new show debut. Luckily, at TeamCoco.com, Conan's official website, you can view a ton of video clips from the premier episode of Conan, and you can find more recaps about what happened, contests, special footage and coverage, and much more. It's a great place for Conan fans to get their fix of the Conan O'Brien TBS new show, Conan.

I liked Jon Stewart's reaction to hearing that they were putting Conan up in the slot against him. It was "now I'll NEVER be able to watch me live"!
