TCU Beats Texas to Make 2010 College World Series

TCU eliminated Texas to make the 2010 College World Series on Sunday. Winning the Austin Super Regional, TCU is in the 2010 College World Series as the fourth team to qualify. It took three games to do it, but TCU was able to knock off the No. 2 seeded Texas Longhorns with a Game 3 victory on Sunday. Texas was seeded No. 2 in the 2010 NCAA Baseball Championship Bracket, and because of that got to play the Regional and Super Regional rounds at home in Austin. It was a hard fought series, but at the end of the weekend it is Texas that gets to stay home, and TCU that advances with seven other teams to make the 2010 College World Series.

TCU won Game 1 of the Austin Super Regional 3-1, but when they lost Game 2 by a score of 14-1, it seemed like the Texas offense had woke up to take down TCU. Again on Sunday it was the pitching that came up huge for TCU though, as they closed out Texas with a 4-1 win. Pulling the upset makes TCU one of the lower seeded schools to make the 2010 College World Series, and the way things are shaping up, they could be the No. 7 seed. The No. 8 seed will be Clemson or Alabama, but the bad part about beating Texas to advance to the College World Series is that the road isn't going to get any easier. Right now it looks like TCU would have to play No. 3 seed Florida in Game 1 of the College World Series, but with four three-game-sets to finish in the Super Regionals, anything is still possible.

It's nice when the underdog wins sometimes! Great report!
