TD Bank and TD Banknorth

TD Bank and TD Banknorth made headlines yesterday and I had to see why. I bank with them and wondered what was happening with TD Bank and TD Banknorth. After all, Washington Mutual turned into Chase so now I'm banking with them, too. What's happening to TD Bank and TD Banknorth?

Apparently TD Bank and TD Banknorth suffered robberies. I was alarmed to discover a local TD Bank was robbed. Newsday reports a Sunday morning bank robbery at TD Bank in Plainview, NY. The suspect handed the teller a demand note and an undetermined amount of money was taken. The TD Bank robbery suspect fled with the money.

The Middletown Press reports TD Banknorth in Durham was robbed just a couple of weeks ago. It seems TD Bank and TD Banknorth are targets for holiday robbers.

Amidst these robberies, US Banker reports TD bank is targeting small business customers for the new year. Jay DesMarteau, small business sales and distribution strategy manager, stated about small business accounts, "The need really has to be there. The small business is going to need those services and the only thing you can do is make them aware of that."

Maybe robbers might do better to start small business accounts with TD Bank and TD Banknorth rather than pursuing a career in crime. Does it have anything to do with the economy?

The Canadian Press reports Beata Caranci, TD Bank director of forecasting, said, "The day has finally arrived that we can confidently say the Global Great Recession has ended."

Do you think TD Bank is right about the end of the Global Great Recession? I'm just not seeing it...
