TD Bank Transaction Glitches Sends Customers into an Angry Tirade on Facebook

ShawnTe Pierce
This week TD Bank customers with Facebook accounts have been showing their frustration over transactions not posting in a timely manner, namely their direct deposits. The customers who have vented on Facebook are angered over the situation and concerned about the bills they have due not getting paid and incurring additional fees as a result.

An official statement from TD Bank posted on their websites reads as follows:

An Important Message

We are experiencing delays in updating certain account transactions which has impacted some of our Customers. Across the organization, all hands are on deck to resolve these issues, and get back to business as usual. From Maine to Florida, our employees remain focused on helping our Customers through this period.

We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience this has caused and we thank you for your patience and understanding. Rest assured, your accounts are safe and secure.

We're here for you. Please visit your local TD Bank store and speak with a Customer Service representative, or read our frequently asked questions for more information.

This comes of little comfort to the customers who are still waiting for their money like Nia Duncan from Wilmington, Delaware, who posted on her Facebook wall Wednesday about how TD bank failed to post her direct deposit. Nia. states this still has her ticked off because of the fees incurred, "Late posting of my bills and direct deposit, overdrawing my account b/c they failed to post my dang money!"

Also TD bank representatives were not willing to provide any answers at the time as Nia explained in an interview today, "She shut the door [teller window] on me." When asked if she will continue to use TD Bank the answer was no, Nia is transferring her direct deposits over to her Chase account.

Benjamin McQuiston from New Castle, Delaware, has also expressed he may switch banks as well as a result of the TD Bank glitch, "I'm a TD Bank customer for now... not saying that my status won't change to a PNC Bank customer by tomorrow (lol). They really messed up this time... But hey, they only managed to mess with 6.5 million customer's money (lol)." However, TD Bank may have saved this account holder from leaving due to customer service at the TD branch located at Governor's Square Shopping Center New Castle, DE. Benjamin admits, the bank has made strides to fix thing by placing a temporary deposit into his wife's account based off of her prior direct deposits.

Many of the people complaining come from New Castle County in Delaware and were former Commerce Bank customers until TD Bank Financial Group, the parent company of TD Bank purchased Commerce last year for $8.5 billion.

TD Bank customers in New Castle County are fuming and waiting to see if TD bank will indeed fix these errors and reimburse them for the fees incurred. Let's hope the bank continues to resolve these issue swiftly as they have with the McQuiston family, before a mass exodus of closing accounts comes their way.

Wow - there goes the bank's Facebook reputation! Looks like you helped someone already (comment from Doris).

Because of reading your article, I was able to get in touch with a friend of mind who was talking about opening up an account with one of the branches in Delaware. My friend has changed her mind after our conversation.

Hopefully Canadian customers were not affected by this. I know a lot of the former Commerce accounts have had issues since TD bought Commerce Bank last year. This typically happens during Bank mergers and buy outs. When platforms are integrated one side always take a hit. I had the unfortunately pleasure of working with this scenario at my previous employer during their merger with another bank. Systems crapped out, tons of manual processing to do to correct mainframe errors, it was a mess!

Crap! What about Canadian TD customers?
