I had the four salads plate which consisted of quinoa with chopped onions, sliced bananas and strawberries, chicken curry salad, and julienned cabbage with Asian dressing. I would have preferred the quinoa without onions but I guess they added onions for flavor since the quinoa was bland on its own. The chicken curry salad however more than made up for the bland quinoa because it was extremely pungent. The cabbage with dressing was tasty and the fruit looked good but I gave it to my mom so I could have her dessert. The four salads plate was not very filling but then again it was listed under light fare so it wasn't supposed to be a heavy meal.
My mother had the quiche delight which came with the soup of the day: Borscht. She loved her meal although she had a difficult time deciphering what was actually in her quiche. While we were discussing the soup of the day, the owner of Té House of Tea came over and felt the need to inform us how beneficial beets are to one's health. My mom enjoyed the Borscht as well as the atmosphere at Té House of Tea in Houston, Texas however, she was not fond of her tea. Both combo meals were $8.78 and came with a pot of tea.
I had the Jasmine Yin Hao which is a Pouchang tea. It was both organic and fair-trade so it was a win-win for me because it tasted delicious. My mother wanted the winter berries but unfortunately Te House of Tea in Houston, Texas was out of that particular tea so she settled for an alternative which turned out to be bland. It was supposed to have orange and spice but it was flavorless. So I had the brilliant idea of mixing my tea with hers so we could both have a palatable drink.
The quiche delight came with a dessert so we had a choice of anything in the case. I chose the vegan banana bread but was grossly disappointed by the taste. I did not taste even a hint of bananas and strangely enough it had cranberries in it. The bread was very thick and dense instead of light and fluffy. I love banana bread but this was not banana bread. I disliked it so much that I couldn't finish it which was a first for me in the banana bread department. I'm wondering if perhaps they mixed up the banana bread with another one of their baked desserts. That could be the only explanation. Either that or their version of banana bread is not in line with the traditional American version.
Te House of Tea in Houston, Texas is also eco-friendly. The owners are committed to making a better planet by composting all of their tea leaves and vegetable matter, recycling, and shopping local.

Post a CommentI am not much of a tea drinker and don't think I'd make it to Texas, we sure don't have tea houses around here!
