Tea Party at Banana Curve Dinner in South Waverly Pennsylvania

AmyBrowne
Independence Day took on a very real meaning to many people gathered at the Banana Curve Diner in South Waverly Pennsylvania. This was the diner's second Tea Party this year. The crowd of about 200 people enjoyed listening to several speakers and live music.

The crowd cheered and stood several times. Several of those in attendance carried signs to show support. Vehicles passing the small family owned diner tooted in support. I sat in the warm sunshine along with all of these folks, listened to the speeches, and live music.

Pastor Stilton of the Chemung Christian Fellowship in Chemung, New York gave the opening prayer of the program. Alexandra Campbell read blessing of a Nation, and Ray Ward spoke about the present economic problems in Waverly New York.

Bob Bell spoke on property rights and property taxes and Ted Benjamin spoke on apathy in America. Ted Kier, a retired science teacher in the Athens Area School district spoke about the differences in Environmentalism and Conservation. Dan Sateen read a speech where he thanked America for his freedoms.

Vicki Suarez told the assembled crowd how their parental rights are at risk with the government headed the way it is. Mrs. Suarez talked about going to China and adopting her three children so they could experience freedom, as we know it. There is current legislation on the books that aims to take away parental rights from good parents, and we need to fight this. You and I need to fight this, for our children are our future. The website www.parentalrights.org is a web site every parent needs to read, for it will become our reality if the government continues on its present course.

Tiffany Tappan who organized the Tea Party at the Banana Curve Diner spoke at length about the 10th Amendment Movement. She spoke about how it will affect us on a personal level. This amendment will bring power back to the states. You can learn more about the 10th amendment movement by following the link at the bottom of this article.

Thirty-eight of our United States is drawing up legislation to stop the government take over of our basis rights.

Period personalities were present, Myrtle Tim was dressed as Betsy Ross, Alexander was dressed as a revolutionary war solder. A young girl carrying a sign which read "Freedom save some for me" and her grandfather donned flags. Jeddah Estrada, who was dressed as Patrick Henry gave a well-received reading of the famous speech "Give me liberty or give me death."

Dire Wolf and Borderline entertained the crowd with live music various times of the day. Elliott Tim III sang the Star Spangled Banner solo and sang Yankee Doodle with Miss Haley and Miss Rebecca seven-year-old local girls.

Elliott Tim and Tony Jones co-owners of the Banana Curve Diner state they will continue to host these tea parties at their facility.
