Tea Party Game - Your Favorite Doll

Hosting a Tea Party for Girls

If you plan on hosting a Tea Party for young girls, I suggest reading the book, "The Best-Loved Doll" by Rebecca Caudill and Elliot Gilbert. In summary, it's a party for little girls and the invitation states to bring one doll, your favorite doll, and ribbons will be handed out for several categories, such as the best-dressed doll, the doll that can do the most things, the oldest doll, the best-loved doll, etc. There is a meaning behind the story, but you can use this idea to host your own Tea Party.

You can incorporate the book as your Tea Party theme, Dolls. Have each guest bring a doll, or a doll for each category. List the details on the invitation. The girls can dress up for the Tea Party as well. You, as the guardian, will be the judge over the dolls for this Tea Party Game. Each girl invited should come prepared with a brief explanation of why they chose the specific doll they did for each category. You can hand out ribbons, make them yourself or purchase them from party stores, dollar stores, craft stores, etc. There is no limit to the categories for your Tea Party Game. You can follow the book and while your guests are having their "Tea", the dolls can sit around together and have their "Tea" too.

Another idea for a Tea Party Game, you can read them the story "The Best-Loved Doll" by Rebecca Caudill. Or, you can have each guest read a page. The book also has illustrations which you can share with your guests while reading. Your public library should have the book if you choose to borrow it from there. This book came out in 1962. If you plan on handing out favors at your Tea Party, I suggest giving each guest a copy of the book. With enough time in advance to allow for searching and shipping before your party date, try using the internet to find the book. I suggest Amazon.com, Yahoo! Shopping.com, Target.com or your local book store, such as Borders Books and Music or Barnes and Nobel. The book stores may be able to locate quantities you need, just keep in mind this book was published many years ago. Your best success may be the internet.

Little girls love to dress up and love to play with dolls. Incorporate the two into an afternoon of fun, food and sharing.
