Tea Party Games

S Faloon
Tea parties are becoming popular for birthday parties, anniversaries, showers for brides, and expectant parents, school get togethers, scrap booking events and even fund-raisers. They can be elegant "High Teas" with beautiful silver services and full meals, small dessert buffets or a bring your teddy bear and have punch in a paper cup with Mom and our friends afternoon.

Games have become a delightful addition to tea parties. The hostess (or host couple) can provide small to moderate gifts for prizes when participants win a game. A Treasure Hunt can be great fun. A list of items is given out to party goers when they arrive and they can be 'scanning' the party area for these items. If desired the items can be tea bags throughout the area and the treasure hunter that finds the most in an alloted time wins the 'treasure' of the day.

A "T Search" is reminiscent of the old I Spy game. Pass each participant a piece of paper and a pencil. Have game players sight search the area and write down as many items as possible that being with the letter T. The person with the most listed wins.

The Memory Game can be a load of laughs. Place 15 to 20 items on a serving tray. Cover them with a cloth. Go around the room approaching seated party goers. Remove the towel giving each individual about 30 second to see what is on the tray. Replace the cloth then ask everyone to write down as many of the items as they can remember from the tray. Theses items can be tea related; honey dipper, flavored tea packets, lemon wedge, spoon, sugar, tea ball, cup etc. If desired you could have 't' items: toothbrush, tablet, teaspoon, tongs, tangerine, tongue depressor etc.

You can include a craft at your event. Have each guest bring a solid color t-shirt. Provide material to decorate the shirts for a half hour activity.
If this is a party for a special person or a couple have a luncheon cloth available for the group to decorate and sign their names as a memory gift from the wonderful event. Rubber stamps, sponge stamps or even potato stamps will work for this craft.

If this is a dressy event you will want to have an area set up for photos to be taken. If this is a fund-raiser what a great way to have a souvenir for your charitable party goer. Take digital photos and have a person available to take the camera straight to the developer and guests can go home with a wonderful photo of themselves sitting in a Victorian chair or something equally elegant. Black and white or sepia toned photos would make great character shots.

Have a wonderful party that your guests won't soon forget.
