Tea Party at Grandma's House

Three Year Old Invites Grandma to "High Tea"

My three year old daughter's first time away from home was a visit to her grandparent's house. Small towns do not offer the entertainment venues like an "Orlando", but it encourages the use of tools like imagination and creativity. And that is what Grandma learned.

It is only natural for grandparents to add to their grandchildren's treasure chest of toys. My little moppet had brought her dolls, stuffed animals, and favorite pillow. Grandma soon added a tea set. Absolutely thrilled, my little one began the tea parties, and they had many parties over the next few days.

The "High Teas" were the social event of the season. With her hat and some fancy clothes and jewelry, Grandma's "little darling" was in all her glory.

After numerous cups of tea, the three year old hostess returned with more tea. At that moment, Grandma asked, "darlin' from where are you getting your tea?" Taking grandma by the hand, the little one proceeded to her "tea" source. Using the tea cup, she filled her tea pitcher from the toilet bowl, one little tea cup full at a time.

Some years later, I found the most adorable piece of blown glass while visiting Walt Disney World. Grandmother bear sitting with granddaughter bear enjoying a tea party. It could not have been more perfect if I had commissioned the piece for myself. The "little bear tea party" now sits in Grandma's china cabinet.
