Tea Party Patriot Geoff Ross Confronts Charlie Crist at Florida Campaign Event
Florida Republican Senate Candidate Marco Rubio Enjoys a 20-point Lead with Help of Tea Party Patriots
Ross supported Republican candidate Marco Rubio's primary race and continues to volunteer his time and energy for a Rubio win by keeping the pressure on Crist. Recently Ross confronted Crist at a Destin, FL campaign event.
With the help of Tea Party activists like Ross, Crist is getting a humiliating second thumping from conservative, Marco Rubio, a charismatic and clear-spoken Republican. Early in the race, when Rubio entered the Senate primary, he trailed Crist by 35 points for the Republican nomination. Said Rubio, "The only people who thought I could win lived inside my home, and four of them were under the age of 10." But Rubio steadily climbed in the polls, leading Crist to bail out as a Republican and run as an independent. Now, in the three-way race for the Florida Senate seat, Marco Rubio looks to be the clear winner on November 2nd, thumping Charlie Crist one more time.
Rasmussen Reports wrote on Friday, October 29, 2010, "Republican Marco Rubio now enjoys a 20-point advantage over Independent candidate Charlie Crist in the U.S. Senate race in Florida, with Democratic Congressman Kendrick Meek still running third."
On Friday, October 29, 2010, Ross and a handful of Tea Party leaders attended a Crist event at the Broken Egg Restaurant in Destin, FL. Says Ross, "When I was face to face with Charlie Crist I told him to cut all the taxes he raised and roll back the car tag fees from $400.00 to $200.00. I asked him to stop lying about being a conservative." Ross adds, "Charlie Crist promised to roll back the car tag fees for me after I challenged him on it." Ross isn't holding his breath, well aware of Crist's reputation for making campaign promises that never come true. Many of those promises put Crist into the Florida Governor's seat in the first place. Disappointed constituents who voted for him then have bailed out now.
It appears that Crist's future political aspirations among Florida's Republican camp are over, especially in Northwest Florida where most Republican voters are in the Rubio camp. Rubio polls strongest in the Florida panhandle, a fiercely conservative part of the state. Says Pensacola area resident, Celeste Folga, "Charlie Crist blows with the breeze and goes with whoever he's with at the time. He doesn't stand for anything much, except getting elected."
Rubio for Senate spokesman, Joe Pounder, summed it up best when he said, "Charlie Crist will say and do anything to win an election, including dodging issues critical to the future of our country. Marco Rubio is the only candidate Floridians can trust to challenge the direction Washington is taking our country and offer a clear alternative."
Early on I didn't see a win for Crist as an Independent candidate. (Full op-ed here: Florida's Charlie Crist to Run As Independent.) I'm confident I'll see that prediction come true on Tuesday, November 2nd.
