Teacher Gift Ideas: For Those Who Wonder What Teachers Really Want

ebeth
Do you ever get frustrated trying to figure out what to get your child's teacher for a teacher gift each year? Do you find yourself settling on a picture frame year after year because you have no other teacher gift ideas? Imagine how many picture frames, ceramic apples, paper weights and glass vases a teacher can collect in five years. While teachers very much appreciate the thought behind the gift, they probably just don't have enough space in their class room or their home for every teacher gift they receive each year. Many parents struggle with what to get as teacher gifts because they want them to have something that they will actually be able to enjoy. After all, what's the point of wasting money on another glass vase that will never be used? If you'd really like to get a teacher gift that he or she will truly appreciate, here are a few options.

Gift Cards. Never underestimate the value of a gift card. A gift card is a great teacher gift. Teachers love receiving them. It doesn't have to be large amount either. A smaller amount than you would spend on a friend is appropriate for a teacher gift. Teaching isn't exactly the highest paying career, so even a small amount is probably more than they would normally spend on themselves. Many teachers don't have the money to eat out very often so a gift card to a restaurant or even a fast food place would be a very nice treat. Gift cards aren't limited to restaurants either. Don't forget about bookstores, boutiques or even places like Wal-mart and Target. If you'd really like to treat her, you could even get a gift card to a spa or nail salon. Teaching is a stressful job and most teachers don't get to pamper themselves very often. There are so many possibilities when it comes to gift cards. This would probably rank number one on the list of favorite teacher gifts.

Classroom Supplies. Another teacher gift idea that most people don't think of is classroom supplies. Most schools only give each classroom a limited amount of money they can spend each year on supplies. The rest, teachers have to buy themselves. A basket full of dry erase markers, staples, tape, paper clips and rubber bands would be a very useful teacher gift. Most teachers would be very thankful to receive classroom supplies as a teacher gift since that's one less thing they will have to buy themselves.

Magazine Subscriptions. Find out if he or she likes to read magazines. If so, give a year subscription to his or her favorite magazine as a teacher gift. Everyone likes receiving something other than bills in the mail. Teachers who loves to read would be very excited to get their favorite magazine in the mail once a month.

Now you can eliminate the stress of trying to figure out what to give as a teacher gift year after year. With these three ideas, you will always give a teacher gift that they will enjoy and be able to use. No more wasted money on glass vases!

great gift ideas !.........teachers should always be appreciated for their efforts....every year we give some gifts to our son's teacher for that class. when he finished Kindergarten, we gave his teacher some gifts of our liking. She loved those. 18 months later she died of cancer....I still believe her happiness in accepting those gifts was the most rewarding of my experiences.
