Teachers now have the ability to both create and share videos with other classrooms across the country or around the globe via the Internet using a great new web site that has been developed by teachers for teachers, instructors and professors, teachertube.com
Google video and YouTube are two web sites where teachers could upload their videos and share them publicly, but because these sites are uncensored, many schools have blocked access to them. To solve this dilemma, a Texas teacher named Jason Smith developed and launched teachertube.com, which allows teachers to share online learning videos in a safe environment.
On teachertube.com, teachers can share educational videos for their students, and administrators and others can share professional development videos as well.
Teacher Tube's user interface is built similar to YouTube's, so teachers who know how to use YouTube.com will be able to easily navigate around the site. Users can easily flag content that they feel is inappropriate for the educational environment.
Within each of the channels users can sort by most active users in the channel, the most viewed videos within that channel, and you can view the most recently added videos, and users can set up their own profiles. You'll find groups by subject matter, schools and school systems can create their own groups, and students or individuals can create groups as well.
Teacher Tube has a huge variety of content for the college/university level, high school, and middle school level. Teachers will find videos produced by students, world languages, teacher tutorials, fine arts videos, physical education, science, social sciences, writing, elementary level, reading, math and professional development, career and technology education videos.
TeacherTube News is the blog that keeps educators informed about updates to the site, contests and other improved site features.
With teachertube.com, teachers can really make the world their classroom. They can find videos on hundreds of topics that will support their lesson plans, and they can share the videos that they have created with other teachers and students all over the world. Online learning videos are a great way for teachers to broaden what they can offer to their students.
