There are two types of child behaviors. The first type is acceptable behavior. Whatever the child is doing is okay, there's nothing wrong with it and it's acceptable. There second type of behavior is unacceptable behavior. The behavior is just not okay and it is wrong to do.
Right vs. wrong and discipline go hand in hand. Discipline is the correction and process of elimination of unacceptable behavior. We discipline to teach children right from wrong. We discipline to turn unacceptable behaviors into acceptable ones.
In order to teach a child to act acceptably they must understand what is unacceptable. When a child acts unacceptably they need to be taught right vs. wrong.
Parents can teach their child right from wrong in many ways. The first is to set a good example. If right behavior equals acting acceptably and wrong behavior equals acting unacceptably then when parents act acceptably the are teaching acceptable behavior. The same goes for parents who are acting unacceptably, they are teaching their children unacceptable behavior.
Another way to teach your children the difference between right and wrong is to catch them doing right and wrong. Praise them and tell them what a great job they are doing when they are acting in an acceptable way. When they are acting unacceptably call them on it. Don't allow it. Take the time to deal with the situation and discipline accordingly to teach your child to turn that unacceptable behavior into an acceptable one.
Lastly, the very most important thing parents can do to teach their children right from wrong is to use all situations as learning lessons, for both themselves and their children. Learning from mistakes is important. When you discipline for unacceptable behaviors make sure to talk to your child about why the behavior was unacceptable and why it is important to act in an acceptable way. Mention their futures! Say what you need to make them have understanding of all those reasons why right is acceptable and wrong is not. When parents are speaking children do listen even when they don't seem to be.
Parents want kids who act acceptably and know right from wrong. Parents who are involved can easily help their children to learn right from wrong by communication, discipline, and by setting a good example! Our children are our futures. We don't want them doing the wrong thing. We need to teach them right from wrong because without us, their parents, they'll never learn! Thanks for reading and take care J

Post a CommentAll so true. I tend to think one thing wrong with kids today is the fact that their parents are so busy, and often just don't pay attention to what the kids are doing.
Very good points here, nice!!!!!!!!!
