Team Brawn Reigns F1 2009. FIA Not so Much

Though This Year Proves to Be an Extraordinary Year for Team Brawn, the Same Can't Be Said for the FIA

Team Brawn's debut for this year's F1 series proves to be the debut of the millennia so far. The under dog team last year (then called Honda Racing F1 Team) was in such a limbo predicament when Honda announced that they were no longer spending money for the team and they were up for sell. It was a little disheartening for some F1 fans at that time particularly for Honda's F1 driver Jenson Button who seems to be closing in the winning zone and finishing races with close to podium finishing result. Though on sell, the team's future seems grim with fallout potential. Then something happened. Ross Brawn the then Honda Racing F1 Team's technical director bought over the team and turned it into Team Brawn, an F1 power house. As per now, Jenson Button and his team mate Rubens Barrichello lead the driver's championship and the constructor's championship after burning rubber for the last 6 Grand Prix. Their closes rival so far is Sebastian Vettel from Team RedBull who seems to inching closer to the current driver's championship point's leader Jenson Button.

Though this year proves to be an extraordinary year for Team Brawn, the same can't be said for the FIA (Federation Internationale d'Automobile). Recent controversial rules to be imposed by them for next years season may prove to be the end for Formula 1 and a may invoke a new race series by some of the F1 teams themselves.

The long proposed budget cap rule by Max Mosley (President of FIA) will be in affect in the next F1 season race where each team expenditure and spending limit will be capped to 100 million Euro's and down to another 45 million Euro's for the following year. Team Ferrari, McLaren and almost all the team in this years race season spends considerably way more than 100 million Euro's in keeping their team and spends another large sum of money in developing better and faster F1 cars. These new capped budget rules I reckon is suppose to help the smaller budgets teams to continue racing in F1 against big F1 spending teams. As good at it may be, this new rule will kill all future developments for better and faster cars, engines , F1 investors and may start draining all the F1 talents away from F1. I mean how will you be able to afford a better team if you can't pay them when your budget is capped to a certain limit. Some 8 teams have filed a suite against FIA and have threatened to leave Formula 1 and start a race series of their own.

Max Mosley and FIA seems to be unimpressed with this coup and is only willing to discuss with them for any terms should they only agree to his new proposed rule. Let's hope it's still not too late for him to keep the teams for our sakes.
