Team Nederland Advances in the 2009 World Baseball Classic

I was thrilled to see the Nederland team shock the 2009 World Baseball Classic on Saturday by beating the Dominican Republic's team, and guess what, they did it again. The Nederland team sent the Dominican Republic packing it back to their voodoo island with their tails between their legs. I love it. The Dominican Republic had a team chock full of high price MLB prima donnas, with tons of hitting, and more pitching. They got it shoved in their faces by a "darling" team that has one position player, and one pitcher with major league experience. And by default, the American audience got it too, because all of these all-star, high power Dominicans play in the American big leagues, and pull down big American dollars. Good for them.

Even if the Nederland doesn't win another game in the classic, they can go home knowing that they shook up the food chain, and twice defeated what many considered the favorite to win the whole thing.

I hope the same thing happens with the Aussies and they beat the Cubans. Too bad Canada didn't make it. Take down the Puerto Rican team, the Venezuelans, and the Mexicans. Take the big league windbags down a notch, eh?

Japan has a shot at it as they advance to Petco Park to face the winner of pool B (Cuba, or Mexico) but it's taken for granted that the USA "dream" team will now win the World Baseball Classic with the Dominicans out of the way. More big egos, and swellheaded national pride from overbearing shite don't stink player braggadocios. But hey, we are the greatest nation on earth, right? We'll get what we deserve, and, uh, win.

Watch the games on ESPN, or the MLB Network. Would you go all the way for the USA? Lift up your dress if the answer is YAY.

USA! USA! USA! USA!
