Team Nottingham has been in training for several months. Initially they started walking five miles together every other weekend and have now worked up to between twelve and fifteen miles every other weekend. It is with an incredible devotion that these ladies train, even as their lives continue around them, working diligently fight Breast Cancer.
In speaking with Bonnie Erwin, one of the two team captains of Team Nottingham, I learned that the entire team is excited and grateful for the opportunity to make a difference. She expects this to be a heart-warming and life-changing experience for her as well as for everyone on the team and she can not wait to get started on Friday.
"We have been e-mailing a lot while we have been in training but the last week or so we have been e-mailing all the more!" Bonnie Erwin told me with an excitement in her voice that was hard to miss.
The six team members are: Bonnie Erwin - team captain, Kim Young - team captain, Lou-Anne Huemmer, Janet Lee, Jane Price-Smith, and Justine Teigue - all women ranging in age from 31 to 49. They pledged to raise $14,700 and at $14,486.20 they are extremely close to reaching their goal. If you would like to donate to the team, please click on any of the above team members. Although you can not donate directly to Team Nottingham all donations do count towards the team's goal.
Team Nottingham is going to take on the capital of the United States on foot to support this fight to end Breast Cancer! So please join us on an amazing journey in the fight! Net proceeds benefit Susan G. Komen for the Cure and National Philanthropic Trust, funding important breast cancer research, education, screening, and treatment.
If you are interested in walking (or running) to help fight Breast Cancer you can download a 2009 registration form and find dates here. Please consider walking for this great cause.
