Team Red Bull is located in Mooresville, North Carolina right across the street from Rusty Wallace Inc. The area was once known as the center of racing because of the large number of race shops found here. In recent years many of the teams have left the area and according to some, this building was once the home of Penske Racing before they moved to a larger building on the other side of town. We had seen the building before, but never ventured inside until this year.

Team Red Bull is the NASCAR Sprint Cup team owned by Red Bull and also known as Red Bull Racing. Brian Vickers and Scott Speed are their two main drivers, though last year AJ Allmendinger held Speed's place. The outside of the race shop looked very impressive so we were eager to get inside. Unfortunately the outside gives a different impression than the inside delivers.

As soon as you enter Team Red Bull you're confronted with a gift shop specializing in Red Bull merchandise. They don't sell any diecast or cars, which was a little odd. Instead they have a lot of different hats and shirts sitting out, but those seemed fairly expensive to us. Some of their shirts were over $30, which was higher than similar shirts at other race shops.

The odd thing was that they had smaller things placed inside glass cases including credential holders and window stickers for the car. None of those things had price tags and none of them were out for sale on the shop floor. We didn't know if they were for sale or merely for display and the only woman working was on the phone for most of our visit.

Inside the gift shop they have a large viewing window that lets fans see out onto the race shop floor. They had several of each drivers' cars out on display and many others that they were working on at the time. Many of the cars were in various stages of painting so it was hard to see who's car they were. We also saw a number of workers on the floor moving the cars around.

On the way out the door, the receptionist offered us free cans of cold Red Bull and gave us a flyer about their fan appreciation day. She was very nice, even though we told her we wouldn't make it back for that event.

Team Red Bull has a lot of parking, but you won't see a lot of stuff inside the race shop. It's worth a stop by if you're interested in the team or if you just have a few minutes to spare. We didn't stay long because there wasn't much to see, but we're still glad that we stopped.
