The Pros:
• Having someone else help you get motivated. This is one thing that is very important to some people as they may lack the motivation to get them started or keep them started once they see how hard the journey has become.
• Having someone who has the same goals as you do, losing weight. It's easier to have someone who is along the same journey travel with you. You won't feel so alone or out of place if you are going to a gym by yourself.
• Having a support system when times get rough. Let's face it how many times have we felt like we are at a standstill and we are ready to throw in the towel. Having this support system will help you push through these times and keep you going. When you're stuck at 20 lbs from your goal and you feel you're never going to make it, you will have someone to tell you that you can do it.
• Accountability is important to drive and determination. If you feel as if you will let others down if you give up might be enough motivation to keep you pushing towards your original goal. If your one of those people who will regret giving up on a team then this may be the motivation you need.
The Cons:
• Sharing what you feel most uncomfortable about. As people we tend to hide the parts of our body we are uncomfortable about. We hide the true number of our weight; we tend to hide a lot. When in a team situation there will be nothing but truths with your team weight loss buddies.
• Over pushing your physical boundaries can be dangerous. If you are over exerting your body to keep up with your team mates you may be putting too much demand on your body which can lead to health problems.
• Having a team mate progress faster than you are can be damaging. If one of your team mates seems to be dropping weight faster than you are this can spark an unmotivated feeling in some. It's very common for men to be able to drop weight faster than females, when working out and dieting in mixed sex groups it sometimes can get frustrating watching men slim down quicker.
