Teamwork, Part One

No individual has achieved significant success all alone, no one at all. Like the saying goes, "no man is an island." Teamwork is an essential factor to achieving significant success in your endeavors in life, you can't achieve success on your own, due to the challenges you will face on the way, because without help you will get stuck and definitely need help before you crash. The law of significance says "One is too small a number to achieve Success."

The following are general reasons why people tend to want to do things all alone, and it hinders the power of teamwork coming into play;

1. EGO: Very few people are fond of admitting that they can't do everything, yet that is a reality of life. Philanthropist Andrew Carnegie declared "it marks a big step in your development when you come to realize that other people can help you do a better job than you could do alone. Teamwork is birthed when you concentrate on "WE" instead of "ME". To do something really big , let go of your ego, and get ready to be part of a team.

2. INSECURITY : Some people even leaders find it had to promote teamwork because they feel threatened by the abilities of others. Insecurity rather than poor judgment or lack of intelligence , most often causes leaders to surround themselves with weak people. Leaders usually fail to build teams and promote teamwork because they want to maintain control over everything for which they are responsible, and fear being replaced by someone more capable. Like President Woodrow Wilson said: "we should not only use all our brains but all that we can borrow"

3.NAIVETE: Consultant John Ghegan keeps a sign on his desk that says, "if i had to do it ll over again, I'd get help." That remark accurately represents the feelings of the third type of people who fail to become team builders. They naively underestimate the difficulty of achieving big things. Some people who set out s a group usually end well. They discover early enough that their dreams cannot be accomplished by their solo efforts, and use the team building approach to achieve their goals, but some others learn the truth rather late, and never accomplish their goals and dreams.

4 TEMPERAMENT: Not everyone is a very outgoing and many simply don't think in terms of team building and team participation. As they face challenges it doesn't occur to them to enlist others in their plight to achieve greatness

Think about the dreams you have for your life and ask yourself

Is it bigger than I am?

Does it benefit others as well as myself?

Is it worth dedicating part of my life to?

If your answer to these questions is yes, then calm down and wisely make a list of people of like minds that could help you achieve these dreams and invite them on the journey, and be on the look out for other newcomers that could bring progress and something beneficial to the party

One is too small a number to achieve greatness
