Tears of Stone

When stone angels weep, do they weep stone tears,
Tears that crash, shatter and rebound in the night?
Or do their tears sometimes spatter, burn and sear,
Justice's slender, white-hot spears, that illuminate caverns, dark and drear,
Searchlighting guilty, hardened, frozen hearts,
That hide, that barricade, against fact and truth,
Fragmenting reality into bits, infinitesimal as quarks,
Rending and tearing veracity with a razor tooth.
Stone Angel on the cathedral wall,
When you weep, do you weep stone tears,
As well, does comfort and love, gently fall?
Do some feel your compassion, ever near?
