While enjoying tea with your friends, conversation tends to boil around gossip and local goings-on. A great way to steer away from the unnecessary chit-chat is to go in prepared with fun games.
One of the first games that always help with conversation is a game of Truth. Formerly known as Truth or Dare, you can just choose the truth side of the game. This opens the door for close and even unfamiliar friends to bare all without feeling inhibited or judged. Obviously, a tea party is not the place to tell your bestest about your one night stand with her husband, but it certainly allows for you to tell her about a really funny and embarrassing event that you did not feel you could open up to her about before.
Another great game, when in the company of close friends or even family at a tea party, is "Guess the Tea". Without previously knowing what type of tea each of your chose, take turns passing your tea to the left to take guesses at what type of tea each has chosen. This will only work for those of you who are not germ-a-phobes, but it is fun to guess what type of flavor each tea contains. Once the type of tea is guessed correctly, speculate as to why this person chose that particular tea and how it fits into their personality.
A game my friends and I love to play is 20 questions. This is where you think of one thing, and each person goes around to answer a total of 20 questions to figure out what the person is thinking. This game can get a bit loud, but if you keep it under control, it can add some hilarious fun to your party.
Use teatime as a way to open up to those around you and learn more about each other. Many problems and disputes have been solved over tea and biscuits, so use this time as a common ground to solve any problems you many be having. Enjoy a sip and relax. Teatime is for all.
