Teavana Queen of Babylon Flavored White Tea - Product Review

Zachary Fruhling
Teavana is a premium tea store that sells loose-leaf tea. I recently tried the Queen of Babylon flavored white tea from Teavana, and it has become one of my favorite evening tea blends. White tea is known for its high concentration of antioxidants along with a relatively low caffeine content, which makes it the perfect evening tea for health and hydration without the stimulating effects of caffeine.

White tea is simply tea leaves that are harvested when they are young. White tea is high in antioxidants, which are important for the health of your body's cells to keep them from oxidizing. White tea, along with its riper cousin, green tea, carries all the well-documented health benefits of antioxidants.

The Teavana Queen of Babylon flavored white tea is flavored with real fruit pieces to give the white tea a balanced and rich nutty fruit flavor that is warming on a cold winter evening. White tea is relatively low in caffeine, which means that Queen of Babylon tea will not keep you up at night like black tea does. While it is not a decaffeinated tea, the Teavana Queen of Babylon is a white tea and has nowhere near the amount of caffeine as stronger black, or even green teas. This makes Queen of Babylon the perfect way to warm yourself on a winter evening before bedtime, or something to drink at work without having to get up every twenty minutes to go to the bathroom. Caffeine is a diuretic, which means it can actually dehydrate you because it increases your frequency of urination. Because white tea is lower in caffeine, it is better for hydrating than green tea or black tea.

Although Queen of Babylon tea from Teavana is flavored with fruit pieces, the tea is still not sweet enough for my taste. Therefore, I prefer to sweeten my tea slightly with some light honey or with some high-quality sugar crystals. If you are trying to reduce your sugar content, you could use an artificial sweetener such as Splenda or Equal. But with a premium tea such as the Queen of Babylon, I prefer to use a natural sugar in a small quantity.

Queen of Babylon tea is a loose leaf tea, which means that you will need to have a tea ball, a tea bag, or some other sort of tea strainer to prepare a cup or a pot of Queen of Babylon tea. When you choose a tea strainer, choose one that allows the loose leaf tea adequate room to expand, which is necessary for the loose leaf tea to brew properly. Teavana also carries a good selection of tea-making supplies in case you need to stock up on tea pots, tea cups, tea strainers, and so on.

In conclusion, if you want a flavorful tea that is high in antioxidants but low in caffeine, Queen of Babylon flavored white tea from Teavana is a quality loose-leaf tea that should fit the bill on a cold winter evening. White tea will hydrate you without keeping you up at night or sending you to the bathroom more then usual. If white tea is not your proverbial cup of tea, then Teavana has a host of other white teas, green teas, black teas, and herbal teas, which makes it the perfect place to find the right cup of tea for you.
