Tech Items Needed for Short Trips

Timothy Knuth
Are you going on a day or one night business trip? Alternatively, is this a leisure trip but for a short amount of time, perhaps the weekend. One thing is certain, you will need to take your favorite tech items with you to ensure that you have the tools needed to get where you are going and to find all the fun adventuresome locations that you are wanting to explore.

We start the list with the cell phone, your connection to everyone and a way to communicate good or bad. Make sure to include power cables. I do not think I have to tell you how handy this item will be and if you were like me, you would feel naked without it anyhow.

For your reading pleasure, you can load your Kindle with the latest magazine, newspapers, and other books to catch up on your reading. The new backlit device is rather easy on the eyes and with the unit weighing so little, you can just tuck it away into your laptop case.

Speaking of laptop, where do we go without the laptop or Netbook. With Netbooks being so light and small you will hardly notice you have it with you, but gosh will it ever come in handy as you use it everywhere from finding a good restaurant to locating tours and hours of operations at the event you want to attend.

To keep your extra data with you or to ensure you have a way to share the presentation with your client you can turn to your USB drive. These drives are getting cheaper and cheaper each day as the size continues to increase, making these little powerhouses of storage easy to take along with you everywhere.

When you need a few minutes to block out the world, do not forget the MP3 player. Get the tunes playing so you can get a good nap on the plane or refocus as needed with your tunes?

Are you already bored out of your mind? Grab your Play station, Game Boy or other gaming unit and start killing off the aliens in your favorite game. Time will go by quickly an next thing you know your ready for your next event. Your gaming unit will save your sanity as you are waiting for your spouse to get ready, as they say "Just a few more minutes!" Level five here I come.

We would not want you to get lost, so here is a reminder to take the GPS unit. Also helpful if your trip is taking you out into the great outdoors into the backcountry where the potential to "really getting lost" is more of a reality than fiction.

It is time for the buttered popcorn as you reach for your media shades and pop in a movie to watch and relax after a busy day. Great view for you as watch the movie without interruption and without disturbing those around you. This sure beats trying to position your Netbook on the airline tray.

Remember to pack your Bluetooth head set for your cell phone. As it will make it a little easier to make your phone calls, I hate having to hold my phone to my ear now. In addition, most states are making it against the law to talk with a cell phone to your ear and drive at the same time.

I wrote an article about small digital cameras, that article would help you find a nice small digital camera that is perfect for travel, and this is one item that is small enough nowadays to slip into your pocket, purse, laptop bag, etc.

Finally, you need your tech backpack. There are a number of them out there, all with extra pockets for everything, and ergonomically fitted so that you can carry your gear a long ways whether at an airport or through the city streets, a nice back pack designed for your gear will help keep you organized, your equipment safe

The above ten items will help you have a productive trip and will help to keep you entertained and enjoying life on your next short trip.
