Technical Difficulties

A Poetic Flip on My Hardware Blip

Linda Ann Nickerson

The machine does not isolate man
from the great problems of nature,
but plunges him more deeply into them.
Antoine de Saint-Exupery
(1900 - 1944)

My laptop's in the shop,
But musings dare not stop.
If I can't write,
My heart's delight,
I think that I might pop!

The family now must share
One monitor and chair.
We wait and whine
To get online,
A system fair and square.

The screen began to freeze,
And I grew ill at ease.
My pulse grew quick,
My stomach, sick,
In varying degrees.

The modem link-up slowed,
Perhaps from overload.
I groaned in pain,
With thoughts profane,
As each electrode glowed.

So now it's in the heap.
It uttered its last "Beep!"
While they repair,
I do declare,
Perhaps I'll get some sleep!

I don't know what I would do without my laptop. I like to sit in my chair and type, nice and comfortable. We have another computer but its my daughters and she hates when I use hers. There can't be abd stuff, she's only 5! I hope you get your computer back soon.

This is third attempt to comment...perhaps you could write a poem about that frustration...so if this shows up multiple times....UGH...but, at least I have a comp to type on.....you penned the frustration well.....even though we have other computers if my laptop goes down i feel weird.

HA! We've been through this hideous computer-sharing experience in our house.
