Ignore Ex
You only want to ignore the ex that was cruel to you. Any ex that was cruel to you is not worth your time and energy to even say hi whatsoever. Do not engage in any conversation whatsoever with any ex that is abusive in anyway whatsoever. Threaten to call the police if he or she does not leave you alone. Do not be alone with an ex that use to put their hands on you abusively even in a parking lot with people around. Inform them that you do not wish to engage in any conversation whatsoever since they are a monster.
Engage in Small Talk
You may be able to talk to each on civil terms. You can say hi and ask how each other is doing. Ask about college or career advancements. Say Congratulations regarding any new marriage or new member to the family such as a baby. After a few minutes of talking to them then walk away with a quick goodbye.
Do Not Acknowledge Existence
Pretend not to even notice him or her if they really hurt you emotionally. Any person that caused you great emotional turmoil is not worth the words to speak to since it will bring emotions back to the surface almost immediately. You don't want to end up messed up all day long from him or her so just don't even acknowledge existence at all.
You May Talk Just Don't Update
Some ex you may talk to when you run into them here and there. Some of them may ask about your life ,but make sure to give them a general answer that isn't too specific about your life. If they ask you how are you and the rest of the family doing just say good and leave it at that statement. Keywords is the main point here on this one. Don't go into long details to reduce the amount of knowledge about your life.
